The current question is to name at least 4 species of trout that can be found in Alaska waters.  Some of them include the grayling, Dolly Varden, Lake trout, the Rainbow, Cutthroat and Steelhead.

For the next several blogs, the focus will be about Cantwell, Alaska and the surrounding Denali area.  We will offer information on activities, attractions, weather and other information that may be of interest to the traveler.  Since the most recent quiz dealt with trout, let’s start there.

The Grayling is the primary fish that can be found in the fresh waters around Cantwell.  It is a small trout, 8-12 inches in length and is distinguished by its very large dorsal fin.  It is a very tasty fish, with light, flaky meat.  It is also reported to be a fun sport fish.    If you plan to fish while in Alaska, make sure you are familiar with the rules and regulations for grayling fishing and get a license.  grayling
